Mississippi Ethanol LLC
Mississippi Ethanol LLC was formed in 1998 and is located in Winona, Montgomery County, Mississippi.

Mississippi Ethanol LLC(ME) is a privately owned, small business specializing in the development of renewable alternative energy through conversion of biomass. For the past 5 years ME, through grants from the US Department of Energy, has worked to perfect the conversion of biomass through gasification to synthesis gas for power and liquid fuels production.

ME is presently operating both an engineering-scale facility (3 ton/day) at Mississippi State University and a 30 ton/day production facility in Winona. The Winona facility is capable of producing a 22 million Btu/hour gas composed of CO, CO2, H2 and methane. The patented gasification system is a low-to-medium pressure, medium temperature (non-slagging) design with no air or oxygen addition for reaction. The gasification technology processing scheme uses simple, familiar unit operation systems with emphasis placed on ease of control and process safety.

Since 2000, ME has been working closely with The Arrington Corporation of Tyler, Tx. , and has formed an alliance with The Arrington Corporation to license the technology. The Arrington Corporation is well versed in all aspects of plant construction, from conceptual design and feasibility studies, to operation and management.

The licensing strategy of ME exploits the substantial historical investment in bench scale process development, pilot plant scale process development, and semi-works scale process development conducted respectively at Winona, MS; Starkville, MS; and Winona, MS by ME in conjunction with Mississippi State University.

ME's strategy includes marketing the technology to industry for sale on a per license basis. The on going long-term strategy will also include continuing research and development to identify process improvements and efficiencies as well as gasification of various biomass feedstocks.
